FASHION MUSEUM JAZZ AGE

The exhibition is not a chronological overview, but is conceived as a meandering walk along the themes that sketched the exciting history and the context of this ravishing decade. In addition, the exhibition also focuses on the manner in which the 1920s continue to influence today’s fashion.

for the EXHIBITION DESIGN, Michiel van der Bos has drawn inspiration from two features, which he feels characterise the era:

GOLD
because the era was shiny, luxurious, brash and decadent

OVER THE TOP
because everything was over the top and screamed more, more, more …

but these 2 are still TOO STATIC to represent an excitingly vibrant, innovative era. To capture the ESSENCE of the era, he has also used

SILENT MOVIES
short fragments from the movies, which represent elements typical of that era. All these features combined make the design of the exhibition much more powerful and will transport you into the JAZZ AGE
